Imagine you no longer need to buy expensive computers or servers to run your apps or store your photos. That’s the magic of cloud computing — someone else owns the big machines, and you just “rent” what you need over the internet.

Here are the three main types, explained simply:

1. IaaS – Infrastructure as a Service

(It’s like renting an empty apartment)

You get the basics: servers, storage, and networking.

You install everything yourself (OS, apps, etc.).

Examples: AWS EC2, Google Compute Engine, DigitalOcean

Best for: People who want full control.

2. PaaS – Platform as a Service

(It’s like renting a furnished apartment with utilities)

Everything is ready — just bring your code!

No server management or updates needed.

Examples: Google App Engine, Heroku, Salesforce Lightning Platform

Best for: Developers who want to build and launch apps fast.

3. SaaS – Software as a Service

(It’s like living in a hotel)

Open your browser or app and start using it instantly. Zero installation.

Examples: Gmail, Netflix, Canva, Dropbox, Salesforce CRM, Zoom

Best for: Literally everyone — students, businesses, even your grandma!

Quick Comparison Table

Type         You Manage           Real-Life Example             Popular Providers
IaaS         Almost everything   Renting a bare server         AWS, Google
PaaS         Only your code       Ready-to-code platform   Heroku, Vercel
SaaS         Nothing                      Gmail, Netflix                       Google, Microsoft

In short:

Cloud computing = renting computers over the internet instead of buying them.

Whether you’re saving files on Google Drive (SaaS) or running a website on AWS (IaaS), you’re already living in the cloud!

Welcome to the future — it’s been here for a while! ☁️
